March 20th at 5:23 p.m., Principal and Vice-Chancellor Suzanne Fortier announced that Spring Convocation 2020 will be called off as a response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

In finding an alternative to the traditional year-end ceremony, Fortier has announced that this year’s convocation ceremonies will be taking place through Zoom Video Communications.

While many students, families, and friends are disappointed with this news, there are a few things students can be excited about with regards to this new form of ceremony.

  1. You can wear anything you want at your ceremony — I’m talking Crocs, a bathing suit, a onesie ?? You name it!
  2. You can log in and log off whenever you want! That means you can go take a bathroom break or go for a little walk if you get bored or stressed.
  3. You can sit beside your friends during the convocation! Gather your friends and do a big group Zoom!

Those are the only benefits I can think of, if anyone else, like me, is actually really sad about this, feel free to cry with me over Zoom.
