In the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak, the Peer Support Center is holding extra training for its volunteers, who are preparing to treat infected students.

“I really thought I’d be able to see a nurse or doctor since I have this ‘big-name’ illness, but they told me I wouldn’t be able to get an appointment for a few weeks,” said one student who began exhibiting symptoms several days ago.

“I mean, we’re not really medical professionals,” said one PSC volunteer, “but we’re not psychologists either, and we’re treated as a mental health service anyways. I guess it was only a matter of time until they applied this same logic to physical illness.”

The Rossy Student Wellness Hub urges any students experiencing symptoms of Coronavirus to call promptly at 10 AM on Wednesday, otherwise it is unlikely that they will be able to see a doctor.

The Hub also wished to comment that while they do not have adequate medical professionals to treat students with Coronavirus, or any other illness, they are making the necessary provisions to reserve Leacock 132 as a quarantine area for infected students.
